Revamping Lorna Irene Drive Reserve playground
Consultation has concluded
The playground equipment at Lorna Irene Drive is reaching the end of its safe playing life, so we're revamping it. Thank you for all your ideas, suggestions, and feedback you've provided. We really appreciate your commitment to the community.
Next steps
Installation of the playground starts Monday, 31 October 2022.
The design is based on what you told us during our public consultation last year.
Site working hours will be from 7am until 5pm, Monday to Friday.
Due to the scale of the renewal project, there will be large trucks removing equipment and the old safety surface travelling to and from the site. The contractor onsite will manage the health and safety movement of vehicles, but if you have any concerns, you can email us on playgrounds@kapiticoast.govt.nz.
Questions?
We regularly get asked questions about our playground upgrades and we know they can be a hot topic.
If you have a question that we haven't covered, you can ask us a question below. Or you can get in touch by calling us, 0800 486 486 or emailing playgrounds@kapiticoast.govt.nz.
Each year we carry out a regular renewal programme for playgrounds, as equipment gets near the end of its shelf life. Anything that can still be used is either kept in place or relocated.
We aim to create playgrounds that are accessible, fun, varied, and cater for a wide range of abilities. Our goal is to design interesting playgrounds and open spaces that meet the needs of both children and their caregivers.
