Consultation has concluded

One of the great things we love about the Kāpiti Coast is our extensive walking and cycling network.

Our walking and cycling network plan is a ten-year programme of prioritised projects to develop and improve our walking and cycling network. Our previous plan (known as Stride ’n Ride) is coming to the end of its ten-year life span, so we’re updating it.

Our vision is to create a walking and cycling network in Kāpiti that’s safe, accessible, and integrated with high-demand routes. An enhanced walking and cycling network will improve the safety, reach and accessibility of our active transport network and support tourism.

We asked for your feedback about priorities for future improvements to our walking and cycling network so that we can prepare a business case to prioritise projects in our next ten-year walking and cycling network plan.

How you could have your say

We asked you to drop a pin along key points on a route that you take to get to work, shops, public transport, school or other destinations where you cycle, walk, scoot or horse ride in place of using a vehicle, and add a comment or photo. You could add multiple pins to show us all the locations that are important to you.

We wanted to know about:

  • your main walking and/or cycling routes and how popular they are,
  • where you walk or cycle for getting from A to B, for example school, work, gym, shops and public transport,
  • any parts of the network that feel unsafe and how we can make it safer,
  • any improvements or extensions to the network that would improve your experience,
  • your favourite walking and/or cycling paths and trails and what you love about them,
  • and where you use other modes of transport, for example, scooter, mobility scooter, electric scooter and horse-riding – please specify in the comments for your pin.

You could also leave a general comment to be included in the consultation and ask questions.

Consultation closed at midnight on Sunday 9 June

Place pins along key points on a route you take to get to work, shops, public transport, school, or other destinations that you walk, bike, scoot or ride to (in place of using a vehicle on the road). Please add a comment telling us about your route. You can also add a photo to your pin to help explain your idea or to show what needs improving.

If there is already a pin with the same suggestion, please add your own. A cluster of pins in the same location could indicate a greater need to prioritise a project.

We want to know:

  • your main walking and cycling routes and how well used they are
  • where you walk or bike for getting from A to B e.g. school, work, gym, shops
  • your safety concerns and how your route could be made safer
  • if any modifications and extensions to paths/trails would improve your walking/cycling experience
  • your favourite paths/trails and why you love them
  • where you use other modes of transport e.g. mobility scooter or electric scooter.

Instructions for dropping a PIN:

  1. Zoom into the area you would like to place a pin by using the + or - icon at the bottom right hand of your screen.
  2. Select (+) icon top left to ADD PIN. Select the relevant pin and drag it to the location you would like to highlight as important to you.
  3. Complete the comment section and/or add an image.
  4. Continue until you have shown us all the locations that are important to you.
  5. Select the (i) icon to return to this information. You can also FILTER PINS on the map to show only your pins or by pin type, and also see RECENT ACTIVITY which displays the latest pins.

How to edit your pin:

  1. Click your pin on the map that you want to edit.
  2. Next to your name, click on the three dots and click edit.
  3. Edit Pin details and click ‘Submit’ to save changes.
  4. You can also change the position of your pin by dragging it to your desired location.
CLOSED: This map consultation has concluded.
