Vision Kāpiti is focused on what the community wants right now and in the long-term.

Council must deliver on the things that matter most to our community. Councillors have agreed 10 strategic priorities for the triennium reflecting what they have already heard from many of you in our community. They want to action these priorities immediately and will look to use these to focus investment in our next Long-term Plan (2024).

Councillors want to make sure we grow in a way that is sustainable and supports our place, people, and partnerships to thrive. By doing so, Councillors aim to improve social, economic, cultural and environmental wellbeing for current and future generations in Kāpiti.

The ten short-term strategic priorities will keep Council focussed on delivering meaningful strategic change. Council has identified a number of annual actions for each priority – see our posters outlining these.

Long-term Plan 2024 pre-engagement

We wanted to know if we’d got our priorities and associated actions right as this mahi (work) directly informed the development of our next Long-term Plan, including our approach to working alongside our iwi partners, community boards, business, other community organisations, providers, and central government.

Our next Long-term Plan sets our direction, our financial and infrastructure strategies, and our budget for the next 10 years – with a detailed focus on the first three years. Community consultation on the draft Long-term Plan 2024–34 is open until midnight Sunday 28 April.
