Consultation has concluded

The playground equipment at Waikanae Park is reaching the end of its safe playing life, so we're upgrading the play spaces, play equipment and skatepark!

We aim to create play spaces that are accessible, fun, varied and cater for a wide range of abilities. Our goal is to design interesting play spaces that meet the needs of children through to teenagers and their caregivers.

Your play, your say

Whether you're a parent, a caregiver, a young adventurer or a retiree, your voice matters.

During February, March and April 2024, we asked how you use this space now and your future aspirations for this area to help us create a plan to provide fun, adventurous, and safe play and hang-out spaces that meet our community's needs.

Here's how you could cast your ideas into the play space mix:

  • In-person: Our friendly Parks team were at Waikanae Park and other Waikanae events on various days throughout February–April.
  • Online survey: Our online survey closed on Friday 26 April 2024.
  • At the park survey: You could swing by Waikanae Park playground, grab a survey and drop your completed form into the designated box right there.
  • Share your ideas online: You could upload photos online and share your ideas for Waikanae Park.

Next steps

We'll collate and analyse the feedback from our survey and let you know what we heard. We will then reach out to playground providers to talk through potential plans for the playground, skatepark and play spaces.

Questions?

We regularly get asked questions about our playground upgrades, and we know they can be a hot topic.

Let's shape the future of Waikanae Park together!
