The playground equipment at Waikanae Park is reaching the end of its safe playing life, so we're upgrading the play spaces, play equipment and skatepark!
During February, March and April 2024, we want to hear from you about how you use this space now and your future aspirations for this area.
This will help us create a plan to provide fun, adventurous, and safe play and hang-out spaces that meet our community's needs.
Your play, your say
Whether you're a parent, a caregiver, a young adventurer or a retiree, your voice matters.
Here's how you can cast your ideas into the play space mix:
In-person: Have a chat with our friendly Parks team at Waikanae Park from 10.30am–12pm, Friday 19 April, and 10am, Friday 26 April when they'll be there with our Waka Kori play trailer for our school holidays Super Parks event.
Online survey: Fill in our online survey by Friday 26 April 2024. It's quick and easy.
At the park survey: You could swing by Waikanae Park playground, grab a survey form, and drop your completed form into the designated box right there.
We aim to create play spaces that are accessible, fun, varied and cater for a wide range of abilities. Our goal is to design interesting play spaces that meet the needs of children through to teenagers and their caregivers.
Next steps
We'll collate and analyse the feedback from our survey and let you know what we heard. We then reaching out to playground providers to talk through potential plans for the playground, skatepark and play spaces.
