Leinster Avenue Reserve playground upgrade
Share your thoughts on the proposed playground design
Share your ideasThe playground equipment at Leinster Avenue Reserve in Raumati South has reached the end of its safe playing life, so we're upgrading it. This is part of our capital works programme budgeted for in our Long-term plan.
Our proposed design concepts for new playground equipment retain the same play values as the existing equipment, although some of the features may have changed. Our goal is to design an interesting playground that meets the needs of both children and their caregivers. We also want the new designs to complement the play equipment available at surrounding playgrounds.
Concept details
We have two design concepts for Leinster Avenue Reserve playground and we'd like to know which one you prefer. Both concepts are the same apart from the spinner, and create a vibrant, fun and inclusive play space for tamariki aged 2 to 12 year. The designs transform the current underused and damp area into a resilient and welcoming playground for the whole community.
Main Play Module:
- Strong, long-lasting, and low maintenance – perfect for high-use community spaces
- Double slide for side-by-side fun
- Wave slide for older kids seeking a thrill
- Steel mesh climbing wall (2.1m) to build strength and confidence
- Junior stairs for safe and easy access for younger kids
- Interactive panels like the Daisy Head and Sensory Turtle to support quiet, imaginative, and sensory play
Swing Bay – Something for Everyone
A two-bay ACE Swing set featuring:
- Basket swing for group and inclusive play
- Toddler seat for safe early-years swinging
- Belt seat for a classic swing experience
- A colourful top bar ties in with the main play module for a fun, cohesive look.
Concept 1: Compound Rocket Roller

Concept 2: Tipi Carousel
An inclusive carousel suitable for all users, with Matta scuff mats installed for safe and easy access. It is perfect for kids who love to spin and twist! It helps build balance, coordination, and core strength.
